Description
What is a dam liner?
A dam liner is a material made from plastics that is black in colour that is used to cover a pond or water reservoir in order to reduce water leakage.
Our dam liners are made from high quality polythene to ensure our clients gets more service from them.
What are the uses of dam liner?
- Water conservation;-water collected during rainy season can be used later in dry season by the use of our dam liners
- Fish farming many people are now able to do fish farming either small scale or large scale using our pond liners. This creates a consistent environment for the fish to live and grow without fear of water loss or contamination
- Industrial purposes water collected and stored in dam liners can be used by industries to meet their water needs
- Irrigation water collected during dry season can be used by farmers to water crops during dry seasons.
What are the benefits of dam liners?
- No more water loss as the barrier created with the dam liner enables the water to remain intact.
- Increasing the water storage space; with dam liners one can create underground water storage or even build a water pan to carry enough water once the tanks are full.
- They are safe for the environment as they do not cause pollution to the living things
- Dam liners help to tame soil erosion that occurs in moving waters thus conserving the soil.
What are the steps of dam liner installation
- Land preparation; one must choose the land and the place where the pond will be. Clear the vegetation and the soil debris until a levelized smooth soil is achieved
- Choose the correct liner for the specific place. we have 1mm.0.75mm,0.5mm
- Liner installation; lay out the dam liner on the prepared surface. Anchor the edges of the dam with sandbags, bricks or even planted grass
- Refill the dam liner with water to store the water for later usage
How do you measure the size of a dam liner?
Square/Rectangular Reservoirs with Straight Edges:
Formula:
- Total Length = (Length + 2 * Depth + 2 meters for overlap)
- Total Width = (Width + 2 * Depth + 2 meters for overlap)
Example:
- Suppose you have a pond with a length of 13 meters, a width of 5 meters, and a depth of 2 meters.
- Total Length = (13 + 2*2 + 2) = 19 meters
- Total Width = (5 + 2*2 + 2) = 11 meters
- Required Liner Area = 19 meters * 11 meters = 209 square meters
